Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy ein komponierter Briefwechsel
(A correspondence composed)
There is hardly anything that this brother and sister didn’t write about in their letters: music, everyday events, politics, gossip, rumors… and back to music. Music is where the strong bond between the musically gifted brother and sister Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn began. And it is also where their closeness ends, for although their teacher Carl Friedrich Zelter attested to the fact that they were equally gifted, Felix naturally went on to a distinguished career in music, while Fanny’s musical talent, in accordance with social conventions, was reduced to a mere hobby. The reading is set to the music discussed and debated in the letters.
