Martin Prinz | Über die Alpen: Von Triest nach Monaco
zu Fuß durch eine verschwindende Landschaft
(Across the Alps: from Triest to Monaco on foot through a disappearing landscape)
Hiking the Roter Weg (Red Path) across the Alps is still one of the great adventures to be had in the heart of Europe. In June 2008, Martin Prinz set out from Trieste to hike the 2,500 kilometers to Monaco in 161 daily stages. Alone, he traversed the main ridge of the Alps on several occasions, crossed national borders 44 times, climbed to the upper reaches of the High Alps, exposed to the elements and imponderables. In his personal experience of Earth’s largest tourist region, Prinz discovers a world that was once made accessible by humans as a cultural landscape, but is now disappearing at a much faster pace than we would like to believe. His journey leads audiences into a reality whose telling is as fascinating and gripping as the wanderer himself.
