Apart from both piano concertos, the less popular songs and a few other works, Chopin conquered the musical cosmos with his piano alone. The only few exceptions he made were for his friend, the cellist Franchomme. Why the Paris of Chopin’s day was the City of Piano is an exciting chapter in the history of piano technique and virtuosos.
