Edutainment | ROBERTA/PEPP@MINT - IT and Computerworkshop

Workshop for Kids and Teens

with Andrea Herold, Birgit Steinbrunner and Thomas Steyerl

PEPP@MINT: Discovering through play, trying things out, building and programming with innate curiosity – that is how the importance, the central ideas, and the fascination of the natural disciplines (mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology) become graspable in the truest sense of the word. Step by step, the children construct learning robots from colorful LEGO stones. These are then programmed for a graphical programming language according to the modular principle. The kids observe the behavior of their individual robot model, tinker with new possible solutions and grow with the various missions they solve. Over the past year, the Roberta network has inspired more than 5,000 children and teens for engineering and science in more than 30 documented Roberta courses!

Developed by Fraunhofer IAIS, the Roberta concept impressively shows how it is possible to get young people – and especially girls – excited about both technology and the natural sciences. Excellent fun for girls and boys.
