Schloss Elmau was originally built from 1914-1916 by the philosopher and best-selliong author Dr. Johannes Mueller, largely destroyed by a fire in 2005, and rebuilt from 2006-2007 by his grandson Dietmar Mueller-Elmau as a 5* Luxury Spa & Cultural Hideaway and Member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The Hideway has since been rated as one of the best resorts in Europe and the world, and is the first hotel ever having hosted two G7 Summits (2015 and 2022).
