Think Philosophy! Wonder – Question – Reflect

Workshop for kids and teens ages 8 and up

With Dr. Hans-Bernhard Petermann

The title says it all: This workshop revolves around the exciting activity of philosophical thinking. And not just to get to know some of history's great minds, either. Thinking like a philosopher means, above all, learning to think for yourself. And that can be done on four different levels: through differentiated and reflective perceptual thinking, emotional thinking, rational thinking, and active thinking. And the best part is that even elementary school-age children are capable of such reflective thinking and should be trained in it. This is how they learn to think for themselves in their respective personal lives, to think through dialog and debate, to think in ways that clarify concepts, and to think soundly in a way that is ignited by concrete real-life experiences. The course instructor, Dr. Hans-Bernhard Petermann, is a true professional: he is a philosopher and has decades of experience in philosophical science and in teaching children, adolescents, and students.

Dr. Hans-Bernhard Petermann (*1952) war nach Studien und Examina der Philosophie und der Katholischen und Evangelischen Theologien in Münster, Tübingen und Heidelberg zunächst über 20 Jahre hauptberuflich im gymnasialen Schuldienst tätig. Von 1997 bis 2019 lehrte und forschte er wiederum über 20 Jahre als Akademischer Oberrat im Fach Philosophie/Ethik an der Pädagogischen Hochschule, neben Einführungen in die Philosophie und ihrer Didaktik zu fast allen Bereichen der Philosophie; dazu gehörte die professionelle Begleitung der Lehramtsstudierenden in ihren Unterrichtspraktika. Seit 2009 bietet er regelm..ig Philosophie-Kurse in der Heidelberger Kinderakademie für hochbegabte Grundschüler:innen an. – Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen Philosophiedidaktik einschlie.lich Philosophieren mit Kindern, Religionsphilosophie, Philosophie und Interdisziplinarit.t incl. angewandte Ethik, Philosophie und Bildung und zuletzt vornehmlich Lesef.rderung. Für das Philosophieren mit Kindern und das Thema Religion im Rahmen philosophischer Bildung gilt er aufgrund seiner langj.hrigen Erfahrungen in Theorie und Praxis inzwischen als wichtiger Experte im deutschsprachigen Raum.
