Pilates is much more than just the well-known exercises on the floor mat. 100 years ago, Joseph Pilates was already using spring resistance to train fellow prisoners in the internment camp in England during World War I. 

A range of Pilates exercise devices evolved from these early experiments. The best known and most popular are the Reformer, the Cadillac and the Wunda Chair. Guests staying at Schloss Elmau can book an individual lesson by Dr. Imke König in the Pilates Studio and can train with the Reformer, the Cadillac and the Wunda Chair. 

Individual lessons can be booked any time for a separate fee.

with a short tea break, and from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Pilates is an exercise system renowned for its positive effects on posture, core stability, flexibility, and strength. In the morning sessions, we will focus on the fundamentals of Pilates: the anatomy of the involved muscles, key terminology, and training principles related to stretching, balance, and mobility—including practical exercises.
In the afternoons, we will practice the most important mat exercises from this comprehensive movement system.
A detailed exercise manual is included.

The Pilates Way to Stability and Balance

Exercises for strength, flexibility and balance ensure a balanced workout and a new body awareness. A daily Personal Pilates session with Dr. Imke König with classic exercises on the mat, dynamic  Pilates Standing Balance exercises and, on request, exercises on the Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda Chair. Plus a daily well-being treatment (50 min).
