Taiji & QiGong
Taiji Quan is meditation and movement therapy in one. Gentle but very effectively, it strengthens your balance and serenity and helps with various illnesses. Taiji Quan and Qigong are part of our weekly Fit & Active program. Medical Spa Director Dr. Imke König has been practising Taijiquan and Qigong for 35 years and specializes in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Her practice is located in the Badehaus .
Individual lessons can be booked at any time for a separate fee.
During the Taiji retreat, you will practice the form, i.e. the choreography, of the authentic Yang style. You will also perform Qigong exercises to warm up and for strength, coordination, and flexibility. In four days, we will practice either Part I (Earth), or the first or second half of Part II (Heaven incl. script). Part I is somewhat easier than the Part II, but in principle you could also start with Part II. We start with Qigong exercises to warm up, after which we will learn and practice the choreography of Part I of the authentic Yang style of Taiji as a group. We will cover the meditative aspects of this form of movement, as well as the principles of opening and closing the yin and yang.
On the TCM and Qigong retreat, you will learn about the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Each day, you will learn new Qigong exercises, and be introduced to the principles of the Chinese 5-element diet, as well as how to live a happy and long life in harmony with nature. Teas and herbs for support. Acupressure for relaxation.
The Taiji & Qigong retreats run for 4 days. Classes take place from 10.00 to 12.00 (with a short tea break) and from 15.00 to 16.00. For the retreats you will need comfortable, breathable, loose cotton clothing, socks or flat, thin-soled shoes. We will practice with the window open for a lot of the time, so always dress warmly enough and have a sweater and scarf or shawl with you just in case.
