FOREST BATHING – SHINRIN-YOKU

Shinrin-yoku is Japanese and means forest (air) bathing. It involves consciously immersing oneself in the atmosphere of nature. Listen to the pleasant rushing of water in a brook, or the wind rustling through the leaves. Inhale the scent of the humpback meadows and feel the soft soil and roots under your feet. Accompanied by a forest “lifeguard,’ you hike along hidden paths, over lush humpback meadows, and past untouched forest streams. The view of the mighty Wetterstein massif leads to a deep connection with alpine nature.

Effects:
The parasympathetic nervous system is activated and stress hormones reduced. The air in the forest contains less particulate matter. Accelerated regeneration after illness. Blood pressure is lowered. Herbal terpenes act on the body, protect against free radicals and have a positive influence on the immune system. Improved sleep quality. Stimulating the senses has a positive effect, and one’s powers of concentration are heightened.
