What does it mean to be fit?

Fitness means having the strength, endurance, and health to lead an active and long, fulfilled life. On this retreat, you will benefit from the expertise of Ironman world champion and Hyrox pro athlete Sebastian Kienle. The focus is on movement in all its facets. In addition to two intensive training sessions per day, three inspiring discussion rounds await you on the topics of: Nutrition in Sports, Motivation, and Longevity, or the trend towards an especially long, healthy life. There will be plenty of time for sharing ideas and experiences – and, of course, to enjoy the ambience of Elmau. As Sebastian likes to say: “You can only truly enjoy comfort once you’ve left your comfort zone.”

Schedule: Two hours of intensive training every day. We begin with a “Cardio Day” (running, swimming, various ergometers), followed by a “Strength Day.” This alternating rhythm continues for the duration of the camp.

Who for? The retreat is aimed at participants between the ages of 18 and 65 who are in reasonably good physical shape. If you are able to jog for 50 minutes without resting, this camp is perfect for you.

Performance diagnostics

The techniques of performance diagnostics are usually reserved for professional athletes at Olympic training centers. At Schloss Elmau, you have an opportunity to get fit effectively at a professional level and achieve your athletic goals. Sports scientist Johannes Mikenda will analyze your current performance status for targeted training. Depending on the specific issue or situation, you can use performance diagnostics and movement analysis to identify potential and then learn how to fully exploit this potential in your personal training.

Performance Diagnostic Basic

Spiroergometry – an increasing load on the bike or treadmill with simultaneous measurement of respiratory gases & ventilation – is used to determine your threshold values, which are necessary for targeted training monitoring and management. You will obtain your pulse value and speed/watt at the 1st and 2nd ventilatory threshold. Your trainer needs these values to be able to monitor and manage your training properly. These values change, which is why 2-3 measurements per year are recommended for ambitious athletes. After the measurement, you will be given the values with a short explanation of the training ranges.

Performance diagnostic Premium

In addition to the basic diagnostics, this involves an analysis on the bike and on the treadmill. A movement analysis is also carried out during the run: a precise high-speed video analysis that allows you to identify any hidden potential in your running technique. Directly after the diagnostics, the determined values are briefly explained, and within 24h you will receive the an evaluation of both tests, the movement analysis based on picture series, as well as general training recommendations, all in writing! If you do the diagnostics regularly and only need an update, the offer is sufficient; otherwise we recommend that you book another training consultation afterwards to be able to integrate the results into your training accordingly.

Optimizing running speed

Using high-speed cameras, your running technique at different speeds is recorded, then analyzed. You will be given exercise sequences and training recommendations to perfect your technique.

Running Coach

Following a movement analysis or performance diagnostics, our experienced running coach will show you targeted exercises for your running technique, or guide you through interval training so that you can continue working on these after your stay.

Personal Training

You wish to create a training plan directly after the diagnostics? We will be happy to sit down with you and plan the coming weeks in detail. If you need to talk more about this, you can also request coaching after your stay, we will update your plans according to your real needs and also advise you on an ongoing basis, via Zoom. If this is your first diagnosis, we also advise you to book another consultation, as this is usually needed to understand the results.
