Schloss Elmau offers an unsurpassed variety of mountain hiking opportunities for all abilities in the Wetterstein, Karwendel, Soiern, Ester and Ammer mountains. The most beautiful tours lead directly from the hotel to King Ludwig's fantastic Schachenhaus at 1800 m in the Wetterstein mountains and through the Partnachklamm, one of the most spectacular gorges in the Alps.

Ferchensee lake

Elmauer Alm Loop

Large loop to the Elmauer Alm lodge, through a beautiful, less-traveled forest that has been used as a film set on multiple occasions.

Ferchensee Loop

From Schloss Elmau along Ferchenbach brook to Lake Ferchensee. After a loop around the lake, return via Hirnschlag hill with its gentle ascent.

Schachenhaus

At an altitude of 1800+ meters above sea level stands the Schachenhaus, a spectacular royal castle of King Ludwig II. A beautiful mountain hike with spectacular views and a lovely place to stop for refreshments.

Arnspitz Loop

The Arnspitz Group is essentially an elongated mountain ridge, with the Große Arnspitze as its highest point. Two of the three frequently used routes to the Große Arnspitze are combined to create a rewarding but strenuous crossing.

Dreitorspitze Multipeak Massif

A long, physically demanding hike that requires a head for heights and sure-footedness in the higher sections. A climbing helmet should be worn on the via ferrata and, for inexperienced mountaineers, a via ferrata kit should be part of the equipment.

Graseck-Eckbauer-Elmauer Alm

A family-friendly hike from Schloss Elmau along the forest road to Vordergraseck, continuing on to the Olympic ski jump. Take the new cable car up to Eckbauer and across Mt. Wamberg to the Elmauer Alm lodge. The cable car shortens the indicated walking time by about an hour.
