One of the most rewarding hikes takes you up to our mountain restaurant with breathtaking panoramic views of the Alps. Another beautiful hike leads you along the rushing Ferchensee Creek to the frozen Ferchensee Lake and the most spectacular hike takes you to and through the icy Partnachklamm Gorge.

Cross-country skiing and skating

Recharge your energy with cross-country skiing and skating on beautiful trails right in front of the hotel, or explore over 200 km of perfect tracks between Garmisch, Elmau, Isartal, Seefeld, and Leutasch, one of the largest cross-country skiing areas in the Alps.

Cross-country skiing has numerous health benefits: According to studies from the American Mayo Clinic, it enhances cognitive function, boosts mood, and improves sleep. Morning and afternoon yoga sessions, along with massages and a soak in the Japanese Onsen pool to relax your muscles, complete the experience.

Ski Alpin

Experience top-notch ski resorts near Schloss Elmau and enjoy the opportunity to conquer the slopes every day. Our shuttle will take you to snow-sure destinations such as Seefeld (25 min), Garmisch-Partenkirchen (20 min), and the Zugspitze (35 min), all offering ideal conditions for skiers of all levels. On the Zugspitz Glacier, the ski season begins as early as December and lasts until Easter.

In addition, our exclusive ski weeks offer a unique experience: Four days of skiing enjoyment with free Ski Safari Tours, accompanied by an experienced mountain guide who will show you the best slopes in the region.

Ski School

Top ski instructor team led by former Giant Slalom World Cup winner Max Rieger. Private ski instructors. Group lessons. Children's ski school. Cross-country skiing courses, both private or in groups. Not everyone can cross-country ski, but everyone can learn! Ski weeks with guest ski races, a cozy hut evening, torchlight descent, and après-ski fun. Rent brand-new products from K2: alpine and cross-country skis (Classic/Skating) as well as snowboards. Equipment rental for boots, poles, and helmets is available at the hotel.

Alpine Ski School for Children

With a mix of skiing, games, and animation, little ski dwarfs (from 4 years old) experience their first steps in the snow. Friendly ski instructors teach, supervise, laugh, and comfort.
Group lessons (from 4 people) take place Monday to Friday:
• Departure: 9:00 AM for beginners to Kranzberg / 8:30 AM for advanced skiers to Seefeld
• Lesson time: 9:30 AM to 12:15 PM
• Return: approx. 12:45 PM from Kranzberg / approx. 1:15 PM from Seefeld
• New participants can join the courses on Mondays and Tuesdays
• The ski area is always selected by the ski school based on skill level and snow conditions

Dog Sledding
5 March

Are you fascinated by sled dogs? Then this workshop is perfect for you! You will be introduced to the musher's language and learn the key terms for controlling the sled or dog sled. You will practice dry runs to get used to handling the sled. Then, it's time to prove yourself as a musher and steer the sled dog team! To cap it all off, you'll experience the powerful surroundings of the Bavarian Alps on a snowy hike. You'll be connected to your husky by a special belly harness – an unforgettable nature experience. Get ready for an exciting day that will stay with you for a long time!

Ice Rink

Enjoy pure winter joy on our private ice rink right in front of the hotel! While the sun makes the sparkling ice surface shine, you can relax and glide around or burn some energy with a game of ice hockey. Rent skates or hockey sticks and create unforgettable memories on the ice – all surrounded by the breathtaking mountain scenery!

Curling

Several times a week. Curling is one of the ultimate precision sports, where the goal is to place your team's curling stone closest to the target, the "daube." The instructor will explain the rules of the game and provide tips to improve your technique.
