APRIL 2025 | E A S TER HOL IDAYS NIL S L ANDGREN FES T I VAL Nils Landgren SAT 12 – FRI 18 APRIL NILS LANDGREN FESTIVAL Nils Landgren is one of the most suc- cessful European jazz musicians ever and one of the world’s top trom- bonists. Now, for the second time, he is organizing his own festival at Schloss Elmau. For this, “Mr. Red- horn,” as he is known because of the color of his trombone, has invited up-and-coming young artists from the Scandinavian jazz scene to join him alongside long-standing musical partners and friends from the worlds of jazz and classical music. The mu- sical spectrum of the six concerts ranges from jazz to classical and beyond, from melancholy, tender ballads to distinctive, groovy sounds, and even alpine sounds. This festival week was particularly sha- ped by the Amadeus Quartet and the composer Benjamin Britten, who vi- sited Elmau many times and even premiered several works here. This year, to mark the 50th anniversary of Britten’s death in 2026, some of Britten’s key works will also be re- presented in the concerts of the 71st Chamber Music Week alongside the chamber music repertoire of Classi- cal and Romantic greats Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms.
