Meditation Retreat with B.Alan Wallace
The Way of Shamatha:
Soothing the Body, Calming the Mind, Illuminating Awareness
In this Retreat we will focus on methods for refining attention and exploring the nature and potentials of the mind through the progressive development of mental and physical ease, attentional stability, and attentional vividness. The methods taught will include first releasing the awareness into the rhythm of the breath and the field of tactile sensations throughout the body, then turning attention to thoughts and other mental activities, and finally turning inwards onto awareness itself. The cultivation of such attentional balance and clarity has been found to enhance performance and creativity, reduce stress, support mental health, and lead to personal transformation in everyday life. And such attention skills are essential for spiritual maturation, for they are central to the development of a focused mind and an open heart..
