Schloss Elmau

Schloss Elmau was built from 1914-1916 by the philosopher and bestselling author Dr. Johannes Mueller as a retreat for artists and his readers. The building was destroyed by a major fire in 2005 and rebuilt and expanded as a Luxury Spa & Cultural Hideaway and member of the Leadings Hotels of the World in 2007.

All deluxe rooms, junior suites and suites are located in the south and West Wing. Most rooms have floor to ceiling windows, balconies and offer breathtaking views of the lofty mountains in the south.

All rooms feature oiled oak parquet floors, natural stone in spacious bathrooms, furniture from India and Indonesia, luxurious extra large mattresses from Schramm (200x210), handmade carpets from Iran, antiques from China, perfect reading light, flat screen tvs, Bose sound CD players with Ipod connection, high speed wireless internet connection, minibars and bathrobes in individual colours of choice.

Architecture & Design

The architecture and interiors celebrate diversity, complexity and contradiction. Grand yet intimate interiors blend the ultimate in urban comfort with the beauty of the untouched surroundings and rough surfaces of precious natural materials from around the world with subtle oriental influences and warm lights from Enzo Catellani.

Wetterstein Wing

The wooden Wetterstein Wing was build in 2003 and features 32 junior suites and family apartments with very large floor to ceiling windows which can be fully slid open and offer breathtaking views of the lofty mountains in the south. All rooms have oiled oak parquet floors and flatscreen tvs. Some rooms have sliding glass doors with curtains to separate sleeping from living areas.

Standard rooms feature king sized beds (200x200), small bathrooms with white tiles and a kitchenette.

Deluxe rooms feature large bathrooms with natural stone, extra large beds (200x210) from Schramm and timeless, luxurious furnishings, like the new rooms in the Schloss.
